Australia Visitor Visas 2026 — eVisitor, ETA & Subclass 600

Everyone except Australian and New Zealand citizens needs a visa or travel authority before boarding. For tourism, the right option depends almost entirely on your passport:

How to apply (subclass 600 example)

Create a free ImmiAccount.
Complete the online form: passport details, travel plans, funds, employment/ties to home.
Upload documents — passport bio page, bank statements, itinerary; some applicants add invitation letters or evidence of ties.
Pay the charge and submit. Biometrics may be requested depending on nationality.
Track the outcome in ImmiAccount; visas are electronic (no passport label).

Good to know

The 2026 fee rise: most visa application charges rose about 25% on 1 July 2026 — but eVisitor stayed free and the ETA stayed ~$20, so check eligibility for those first.
No work allowed on visitor visas (limited business visitor activities are OK).
Fees are non-refundable, even if refused. Answer honestly and completely.
Health/character: longer stays or certain circumstances can trigger health examinations.
